Istanbul bookstore with ‘No Jews Allowed’ sign closes
A bookstore in Istanbul’s Beyazıt district that had posted a sign reading “Jews not allowed” has closed after the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) decided not to renew its lease.
The sign, displayed in both Turkish and English, sparked widespread outrage and discussion on social media last year.
In response to the public outcry, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality chose not to renew the lease agreement with the bookstore owner, resulting in the store’s closure.
