Foreign Minister Fidan conveys condolences in a phone call with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan recently held a phone conversation with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani.
In this diplomatic exchange, Minister Fidan expressed profound condolences to the Iranian people over the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
The incident occurred during President Raisi’s return from a dam opening ceremony on the Iran-Azerbaijan border. The helicopter carrying President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and several officials crashed.
In response to Iran’s request for assistance, Türkiye deployed the Akinci UAV to aid in search and rescue efforts. The UAV successfully located the wreckage, and Iranian authorities were promptly informed.
Regrettably, upon reaching the crash site, Iranian rescue teams confirmed that there were no survivors.
Following President Raisi’s tragic passing, First Deputy Mohammad Mokhber assumed the role of interim president in accordance with the Iranian constitution.
On a developing note, recent statements indicate that the Iranian presidential elections are slated for June 28.
