Erdogan vows to take measures against e-cigarettes on ‘No Tobacco Day’
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Monday noted the increase in usage of e-cigarettes among youth, pledging to take measures against these electronic devices on ‘World No Tobacco Day and Environment Week.’
The president welcomed youth from various countries and national athletes to the Vahdettin Pavilion in Istanbul.
During the event, Erdogan stressed the dangers of electronic cigarettes, equating them with traditional cigarettes in terms of damage caused.

“Electronic cigarettes are as harmful as regular cigarettes, and we will take measures against them.” He emphasized the government’s efforts to prevent electronic cigarettes from entering the country through various channels.

In his speech, Erdogan noted the devastating impact of tobacco, saying, “Every year, we lose 85,000 people to the tobacco monster. Tobacco not only poisons individuals but also pollutes our environment.”
Despite all the harm caused by cigarettes, the tobacco industry continues to grow, earning $700 billion annually.
