Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan voiced his disappointment with U.S. President Joe Biden regarding the recent images from the U.S. House of Representatives during Israeli Netanyahu’s visit, which he said caused deep frustration in Türkiye and globally.

During the call, Erdogan condemned the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, calling it a severe blow to ceasefire efforts.

President Erdogan and President Biden addressed various topics, including bilateral relations between Türkiye and the U.S., the situation in Gaza, a recent hostage exchange in Türkiye, and broader regional and global developments.

Reaction to House applause

President Erdogan criticized the Netanyahu administration for its actions, stating that it consistently demonstrates a lack of interest in ceasefire and peace. He emphasized that the images from the U.S. House of Representatives were deeply disappointing and highlighted the detrimental impact of Haniyeh’s assassination on ceasefire efforts. Erdogan also accused Israel of attempting to spread the conflict from Gaza to the entire region.

Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to enhancing relations with the U.S. in all areas and expressed his determination to continue these efforts.

President Biden thanked Erdogan for his efforts in ensuring the smooth execution of the recent hostage exchange.
