Erdogan congratulates Trump on election victory in phone call
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday, congratulating him on his election victory, according to a statement from Türkiye’s Presidential Communications Directorate.
The statement noted that Erdogan expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation between Türkiye and the United States in the coming term. “In the conversation, President Erdogan congratulated Trump on his election victory,” the statement read. “President Erdogan also conveyed his aspirations to enhance collaboration between Türkiye and the U.S. in the new era.”
Earlier Wednesday, Erdogan had publicly congratulated the U.S. President-elect on X, referring to him as a “friend.”
