Egyptian president to make historic visit to Türkiye, paving way for key talks
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi is set to visit Türkiye on Sept. 4, marking the first presidential-level visit from Egypt in 12 years.
The visit will feature the inaugural meeting of the Türkiye-Egypt High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
The discussions will center on three key areas:
- Efforts to achieve a cease-fire in Gaza and coordinate humanitarian aid.
- Enhancing bilateral trade to increase the volume from nearly $10 billion to $15 billion.
- Defense cooperation, including the potential supply of Turkish drones to Egypt.
Additionally, the leaders are expected to delve into regional issues, including the situation of the Eastern Mediterranean and Libya.
