EFES-2024 showcases Türkiye’s defense industry strength
Held in Izmir, EFES-2024 concluded with a successful demonstration of military prowess, involving over 11,000 personnel from 45 nations. The drill, overseen by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), stands as Türkiye’s largest military exercise to date.
The operation not only included the Turkish Armed Forces but also incorporated over 1,500 participants from allied countries. Furthermore, 47 defense companies, including Aselsan and Baykar, participated, showcasing their latest advancements in defense technology.
The drill also offers a platform for observing Turkish defense industry prowess, encompassing systems from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to warships, serving the nation’s security needs.
Aselsan and Baykar take center stage
Aselsan, a leading Turkish defense firm, played a key role in ensuring seamless communication during the drill. Their advanced radio systems, including the Electronic Warfare Protected Handheld Military Radio (EHKET) and Aselsan 9661 Military Radio, formed the backbone of communication between field units and command centers. Live footage of operations, like maneuvers by underwater assault teams, was transmitted through cameras connected to Aselsan’s EHKET radios, highlighting the exercise’s technological sophistication.
Bayraktar takes flight
The world-renowned TB2 and Bayraktar Akinci UAVs developed by Baykar Makina also took center successfully achieved their designated targets during the drill. Their performance underscored Türkiye’s growing capabilities in the field of unmanned aerial systems.
The Presidency of Defense Industries emphasizes the significance of national technologies, including Baykar Technology’s Bayraktar TB2 UAV. The successful integration of these technologies during EFES-2024 highlights Türkiye’s commitment to bolstering its national defense capabilities with cutting-edge, homegrown solutions.
