Emsad Osmanovic embarks on a transformative journey in Türkiye with a robotic therapy that promises to restore his ability to walk after a severe spinal injury

Emsad Osmanovic, a 20-year-old from Bosnia, has discovered a pathway to regain his ability to walk in Türkiye, thanks to advanced robotic therapy.

The young man’s life took a drastic turn following a severe spinal cord injury from a traffic accident, rendering him bedridden.

Emsad’s condition, which involved severe spinal injuries, led him through a series of treatments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

Unfortunately, these did not yield the desired results. The breakthrough in his medical condition came with the walking robot therapy at Medicana Ataköy Hospital in Istanbul.

According to Dr. Mustafa Aziz Yıldırım, a specialist at the hospital, Emsad arrived with lost mobility and intense leg pains.

The rehabilitation plan, centered on the walking robot therapy, is designed to enhance his walking abilities significantly.

This innovative therapy integrates a robotic device with sensors and a virtual reality system.

It helps by reducing the gravitational load on Emsad, facilitating easier movement and preventing further spinal and joint injuries.

The system also includes a virtual reality screen displaying a human figure, motivating the patient during therapy.

Emsad traveled to Türkiye specifically for this treatment and is now feeling positive changes after he started the therapy. “After learning about this therapy’s potential, I chose it, hoping to walk again. I already feel the improvement,” he said.

He also mentioned his wish to meet Edin Dzeko, the Bosnian player from Fenerbahçe.

With initial reductions in muscle spasms and further improvements expected in the coming month, this therapy has the potential to open a new chapter of hope for Emsad and many others facing similar challenges.
