BAE Systems, Turkish Repkon’s US subsidiary sign agreement on advanced munitions

BAE Systems and Repkon USA, a subsidiary of a Türkiye-based defense company, Repkon, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and production of advanced munitions.
The agreement is intended to improve supply chain resilience and address rising global demand for critical defense materials.
The companies will focus on enhancing the range, precision, and overall performance of various munitions. The partnership will also explore scaling the production of propellants and explosives using advanced manufacturing technologies.

Strategic collaboration for critical munitions supply
Glynn Plant, Managing Director of BAE Systems Land, described the agreement as a key step in ensuring a secure munitions supply. “Ongoing world events demonstrate the importance of partnership to ensure we can supply critical munitions capabilities to meet demand. Industry’s ability to scale munitions production is an essential part of this, and by working together with others, we can better support our customers.”

Next-generation technology, manufacturing
Bryan Van Brunt, President of Repkon USA, highlighted the technological edge of the collaboration: “This collaboration between Repkon and BAE Systems aims to provide our customers with access to the most advanced, next-generation technologies. What’s most exciting is that the approach incorporates world-leading advanced manufacturing techniques. We are excited to work with the BAE Systems team to see it through to success.”
The project will utilize advanced techniques for metal forming and energetic production, which are core competencies of Repkon U.S.
The company operates manufacturing facilities in Florida, Kentucky, and Texas.

Defense Industry Trends Drive Increased Production
BAE Systems is a key supplier of ammunition to the UK Ministry of Defence and produces a wide range of munitions, including small arms and artillery shells, at several facilities across the United Kingdom. Since 2023, the company has been expanding its production of 155mm artillery shells in response to increased demand.
Repkon U.S. specializes in advanced metal-forming processes and has been expanding its footprint in the U.S. defense sector.
The collaboration is expected to support efforts to build sustainable munitions stockpiles and ensure long-term production capacity for military needs.
