Aselsan introduces Türkiye’s ‘Steel Dome’ to international markets
Aselsan‘s CEO Ahmet Akyol revealed at the Egypt International Aviation Fair, held for the first time at the El Alamein International Airport near Alexandria, that the company aims to introduce the domestically produced “Steel Dome” air defense system to allied and friendly countries following its success in Türkiye.
Akyol highlighted Aselsan’s role in showcasing Türkiye’s pride at the aviation fair, noting that the Hurjet aircraft, a symbol of national achievement, was on display. “As Aselsan, we are the company providing the electronic systems and payloads for these proud air platforms. We supply essential components such as avionics, radar systems, communication systems, optical systems, and guidance kits for the Hurjet aircraft,” he said.
The CEO also emphasized Aselsan’s commitment to expanding its international presence through strategic partnerships and export-focused growth. He stated that the company is using the fair to introduce their advanced products and explore new collaboration opportunities, while also contributing to the positive atmosphere between Türkiye and Egypt.
Akyol elaborated on the importance of the “Steel Dome” air defense system, a collaborative project with Roketsan and Tubitak Sage. He noted that the system integrates various components developed over years, including radars, command and control systems, communication systems, and low, medium, and high-altitude air defense systems.
“We have now brought the ‘Steel Dome’ to our stakeholders, demonstrating its capabilities on the international stage,” Akyol added. He expressed Aselsan’s intention to implement the system in friendly and allied nations, in addition to its success in Türkiye.
Akyol also mentioned Aselsan’s notable achievement of climbing to 42nd place on the global defense industry rankings last year and being one of the fastest-growing defense companies worldwide. “We will continue to develop game-changing technologies and expand internationally with a focus on collaboration. We are grateful to our nation and government for their support,” he concluded.
