Aselsan displays Marlin USV’s ASW setup in Malaysia exhibition
Aselsan exhibits Marlin SIDA in full anti-submarine warfare configuration for the first time at the Defense Services Asia 2024 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur
For the first time, Türkiye’s Aselsan recently displayed its Marlin unmanned surface vessel (USV) in its complete anti-submarine warfare (ASW) setup at the Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2024 exhibition, which is being held in Kuala Lumpur from May 6 to 9.
The USV combines the Mini-Dufas low-frequency active towed array and passive towed sonar system. By 2024, Aselsan plans to install a smaller version of its Dufas-towed active sonar, Dufas-M, on USVs.
Hardware component testing is currently in progress, and sea trials for a Marlin USV are scheduled for the latter half of 2024. Dufas is equipped with both active and passive arrays, along with detection and tracking capabilities.
Suat Ekmen, the Asia-Pacific manager of Aselsan, stated on May 7 that the specifications, such as the array’s operating frequencies and the towed cable’s length, are being kept confidential due to the system being in the final stage of development.
