Serhat Akin, a retired national football player and current football commentator, was shot and wounded in Istanbul's Beykoz district on Wednesday evening, local authorities reported.

The incident occurred in the Kavacik neighborhood on Şehit Tegmen Ali Yılmaz Street, where Akin was targeted by an unidentified assailant or assailants. The former footballer sustained injuries to his leg during the attack.

Emergency services promptly transported Akin to a private hospital in Atasehir for medical treatment. Hospital sources later confirmed that his condition was stable and not life-threatening.

Akin took to social media shortly after the incident, sharing a photograph of himself in the aftermath of the shooting on X. His post read, "They shot at my feet after a program, our last words are Fenerbahce." The cryptic message has sparked speculation about potential motives behind the attack.

Akin, who enjoyed a successful career playing for various clubs including Fenerbahce, Anderlecht, and the Turkish National Team, has remained a prominent figure in Turkish football as a commentator since his retirement from professional play.
