Türkiye sends container homes to flood-stricken Bosnia and Herzegovina

Five trucks carrying container homes arrived on Thursday in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s flood-affected regions, delivering much-needed relief to communities devastated by severe storms. The flooding, which began on October 4, has resulted in at least 18 fatalities and widespread destruction, particularly in the southern towns of Konjic and Jablanica.
The Turkish government mobilized aid efforts swiftly, sending temporary shelters to support those who lost their homes in the disaster. Türkiye’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sadik Babur Girgin, and the deputy head of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), Hamza Tasdelen, oversaw the delivery alongside Konjic Mayor Osman Catic.
During the delivery, Ambassador Girgin highlighted the immediate response from Turkish aid agencies, including the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). “The initial aid shipment has arrived, and more will follow soon,” he stated, reassuring the local population of continued support.
Tasdelen emphasized the quality of the aid, confirming that the container homes are fully equipped to serve as temporary residences. He also announced that additional deliveries are anticipated, with a total of 31 trucks expected to arrive in the coming days.
Mayor Catic expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s prompt assistance and urged other nations to emulate this model of support. “It is crucial that aid reaches those in need through official channels,” he said.
