Türkiye monitors conditions for relocating Suleyman Shah’s tomb to original site
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MoD) stated that the potential relocation of the Suleyman Shah Tomb to its original site in Karakozak, northern Syria, remains under consideration as the security situation evolves.
Officials emphasized ongoing operations led by the Syrian National Army (SNA) to clear the area of terrorist threats.
Tomb relocation hinges on security conditions
Ministry sources indicated that discussions about moving the historic tomb back to its original location depend on progress in securing the region.
- “The SNA’s efforts to advance and clear the area of terrorist activity are ongoing,” officials said.
- They added, “We are closely monitoring developments. This matter will be assessed if conditions on the ground are deemed appropriate.”
Counterterrorism measures against PKK/YPG
The ministry also addressed reports suggesting a continued threat from the Daesh terrorist group in eastern Syria, accusing some groups of creating a false narrative to shield PKK/YPG‘s activity in the region.
- “We have repeatedly conveyed to our counterparts that one terrorist organization cannot be used to eliminate another,” the ministry noted.
- Turkish forces remain committed to preventing the PKK/YPG and other terrorist groups from exploiting the situation to gain ground in Syria.
Manbij fully secured by Syrian National Army
On the topic of Manbij, which was recently cleared of PKK/YPG terrorists, the ministry praised the SNA’s success.
- “The SNA has taken full control of Manbij and eliminated terrorist activity in the area,” officials said.
- The development supports Syria’s territorial integrity, political unity, and the reduction of terror threats along Türkiye’s borders.
