PKK/YPG terrorist group seeks Israel’s help in Syria
The PKK/YPG terrorist group which occupies areas in northeastern Syria, has sought diplomatic assistance from Israel to ensure continued U.S. military presence in the region amid growing concerns over a potential American withdrawal, according to a report published by Israel’s state broadcaster KAN.
Terrorists concerned over US withdrawal from Syria
According to KAN, the PKK/YPG’s so-called leadership is reportedly alarmed by the possibility of U.S. forces leaving Syria.
This concern has reignited fears reminiscent of 2018, when then-U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to withdraw American troops from Syria—a decision later reversed, in part, due to Israeli lobbying.
An unnamed PKK/YPG terrorist told KAN that if Israel could use its diplomatic influence to secure continued U.S. support for the alleged coalition forces—mostly benefiting the PKK/YPG in Syria—it would represent a “historic milestone” in the relationship between the terrorist group and Israel.
Reports of a communication channel between PKK/YPG terrorist group and Israel
The KAN report also mentioned the establishment of a communication channel between Israel and the PKK/YPG in recent weeks.
Details about the nature and purpose of this channel remain unknown for now.
