The Syrian National Army (SNA) has uncovered dozens of remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Tel Rifaat, a town recently cleared of PKK/YPG terrorists as part of the ongoing “Operation Dawn of Freedom.”
Discovery of IEDs in former PKK/YPG headquarters
SNA forces identified buildings in Tel Rifaat previously used as headquarters by PKK/YPG terrorists. During searches, dozens of IEDs, ready for detonation, were discovered.
These devices, prepared by PKK/YPG terrorists, were designed to target advancing SNA forces and the terrorists aimed to place them as booby traps to harm people when they retreat.
These IEDs are also a major obstacle to the return of civilians who were expelled from the area. The PKK/YPG has been using this tactic for many years. Incoming footage shows that hundreds of mines and IEDs have been discovered in areas captured from the PKK/YPG terrorist organization.
The SNA continues to advance in the region, dismantling terrorist networks and securing previously occupied territories.
