Amazon, Google, Microsoft aid Israeli military in Gaza, report reveals
Major tech companies Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have supported Israeli military operations since Oct. 7, according to a special report by Yuval Abraham of +972 Magazine.
At a conference on July 10, Col. Racheli Dembinsky of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the use of “cloud storage” and “artificial intelligence” services from these companies, according to the report.
In a speech to a group of military and industrial personnel, Dembinsky disclosed that the IDF utilizes these services to conduct ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip. Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, with their AI and data processing capabilities, enhance military operations, she observed.
The Israeli military’s dependence on these cloud services for extensive data storage and processing was particularly critical following the onset of the Gaza ground attacks on Oct. 7, as indicated by the report.
As a result of the cloud services provided by these tech giants, the IDF is able to store and process a significant amount of intelligence data, including surveillance information on Gaza’s population, according to the report.
The extensive data capabilities of these services, particularly in AI, make them crucial for the military’s operational effectiveness.
