3 dead in stampede at Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, Syria
A stampede occurred at the Umayyad Mosque in Syria’s capital, Damascus, following Friday prayers, resulting in at least three fatalities and five injuries, according to initial reports.
The incident took place as worshippers were leaving the mosque after the prayer service.
Local sources confirmed that the injured were assisted by fellow citizens inside the mosque before emergency services arrived.
Images posted on social media showed several people providing first aid to the wounded in the aftermath of the incident.
