The Turkish president expressed support for Trump’s approach to ending wars and praised the ongoing negotiations with Iran and efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Erdogan further noted Türkiye’s focus on preserving Syria's territorial integrity and ensuring its stability. He stressed the significance of U.S. efforts to ease sanctions on Syria, which could contribute to this process.
A stable Syria, Erdogan concluded, would bolster both regional and global peace.
Meanwhile, Trump described the conversation as “very good and productive,” noting that the two leaders discussed “many subjects, including the war with Russia/Ukraine, all things Syria, Gaza, and more,” in a social media post shared across multiple platforms.
Trump confirmed Erdogan’s invitation to visit Türkiye and said the Turkish president would also travel to Washington, D.C. at a future date.
"The President invited me to go to Turkey at a future date and, likewise, he will be coming to Washington, D.C.," he said. Specific timelines for the visits were not immediately disclosed.
Reflecting on his previous term, Trump praised his “excellent” personal relationship with Erdogan, citing cooperation on several issues, including Türkiye’s role in securing the release of Pastor Andrew Brunson.
“In any event, I look forward to working with President Erdogan on getting the ridiculous, but deadly, war between Russia and Ukraine ended — NOW!” Trump added.
