The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued weather warnings for various regions, indicating significant changes in conditions, including rain, snow and strong winds.

Residents and visitors have been given a weather warning for Türkiye and are advised to take necessary precautions as temperatures drop and weather conditions shift.

Türkiye’s northern, central regions expect colder weather, fog

The weather across Türkiye is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy, with rainfall predicted in the Black Sea, southeastern Anatolia, and along the Mediterranean coast, especially in Hatay.

Eastern regions such as Van, Bitlis and Hakkari will likely see snowfall, especially in higher areas. Mixed rain and snow are expected in certain elevated locations.

Temperatures will decrease by 3.5 to 7 degrees Fahrenheit (2 to 4 degrees Celsius) below seasonal norms in the north and central parts of the country. Other areas will experience temperatures around the average for this time of year.

Morning and nighttime fog and mist could affect visibility, particularly in northern and interior regions.

Marmara region to face strong winds during morning and evening hours

The Marmara region will have partly cloudy conditions. The southwestern part of the region will experience strong winds blowing from the north and northeast at speeds of 25 to 37 miles per hour (mph). Mist and fog are expected in the morning and night, which may reduce visibility.

  • Edirne: 64 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy
  • Kocaeli: 61 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy

Aegean region to experience strong winds, fog

The Aegean region was also mentioned in the weather warning for Türkiye. The region will see partly cloudy weather. Coastal areas will experience strong winds from the north and northeast at speeds of 25 to 37 mph. Fog and mist may form in interior regions during the morning and evening.

  • Izmir: 68 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy
  • Afyonkarahisar: 55 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy

Weather warning for Türkiye: Potential thunderstorms in Mediterranean region

The Mediterranean will be mostly cloudy, with local downpours expected in Hatay. Fog and mist could also impact inland areas during the early and late hours of the day.

  • Antalya: 79 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy
  • Adana: 79 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy
  • Hatay: 72 degrees Fahrenheit, local rain in the afternoon

Interior parts of Türkiye to face colder temperatures with fog, mist

The weather in Central Anatolia will be partly cloudy, with cooler temperatures. Morning and night may bring fog and mist, affecting visibility.

  • Ankara: 54 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy
  • Konya: 59 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy

Rainfall expected in Black Sea region with strong winds along coastal areas

The Black Sea region will have partly to mostly cloudy skies, with rain expected in Samsun and Sinop during the evening. Winds will be strong, blowing from the north at speeds of 25 to 37 mph.

  • Samsun: 59 degrees Fahrenheit, rain in the evening
  • Trabzon: 57 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy with rain

Snow and rain forecast for higher altitudes mentioned in weather warning for Türkiye

Eastern Anatolia will experience partly to mostly cloudy skies, with rain and occasional snow in higher altitudes. The weather warning for Türkiye noted that morning and evening fog may occur in some areas.

  • Van: 52 degrees Fahrenheit, higher altitudes may see mixed rain and snow
  • Erzurum: 50 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy

Southeastern Türkiye to see rain and thunderstorms, affecting travel

Southeastern Türkiye will face cloudy skies with rain and thunderstorms forecasted for Sanlıurfa, Mardin, Batman, and Siirt. The rain may intensify during the afternoon, affecting travel and outdoor activities.

  • Diyarbakir: 66 degrees Fahrenheit, partly cloudy
  • Gaziantep: 68 degrees Fahrenheit, cloudy with rain

Strong winds, high waves expected in coastal and sea areas of Türkiye

Winds in the Marmara’s southwest, the Aegean coast, and parts of the Black Sea are expected to reach speeds up to 37 mph. The eastern Black Sea and southern Aegean may face rough sea conditions, with waves as high as 10 feet.
