After a month of unpredictable weather, Türkiye is entering a week of high temperatures and unstable conditions.
Warm air and rising temperatures will define much of the week, but the weekly forecast shows a shift is on the horizon. A desert heat wave and dust clouds will dominate until Thursday, followed by rain and cooler weather just in time for Eid al-Fitr (Ramadan Bayram).
A strong air mass moving in from the Central Mediterranean is bringing warm and dry conditions across the country. According to Türkiye's Meteorology General Directorate (MGM), the heatwave will keep conditions warm through midweek, especially in western regions.
The weekly forecast reflects the influence of this Mediterranean system on the entire region.
Meteorology expert Dilek Caliskan said: "This week again, a desert heat wave will be effective," adding that Türkiye has seen extreme temperature changes throughout March.
Along with the heat, desert dust carried by lodos (southwesterly winds) will affect air quality. In some regions, especially where rain occurs, the dust will mix with precipitation and result in muddy rainfall.
Warm weather is expected to continue through Thursday.
Weekly forecasts show the following daytime highs for Türkiye:
Istanbul will remain mostly cloudy, with local light showers possible. Wind gusts between 20 and 50 kilometers/hour (12–31 mph) will carry warm southern air across the Marmara region.
Here is a regional breakdown of weather conditions in the early part of the week:
The weekly forecast shows that regional contrasts will be significant—while the east stays dry, the west could see periods of rain and changing skies. Travelers heading between regions should stay updated.
Another point in the weekly forecast worth noting is the early morning fog and frost in central and eastern parts, which could affect driving and visibility.
A new weather system will begin affecting Türkiye from the west on Friday. Rain is forecast for:
Thunderstorms are likely in southwestern coastal areas, particularly in parts of the Aegean and Mediterranean. The weekly forecast warns that these rain events could intensify over the weekend, especially in coastal areas.
This part of the weekly forecast is especially relevant for those traveling during the Bayram holiday, as wet conditions could affect transportation and outdoor plans.
The weather will shift again over the weekend as Türkiye marks the beginning of Eid al-Fitr. Meteorology experts warned that temperatures will drop and rain will become widespread.
According to the weekly forecast, this will mark the beginning of a new warm spell next week.
Although much of the week will feel like early summer, the weekend brings a return to cooler, wetter spring conditions across the country.
