Magnitude 5.0 earthquake strikes off Türkiye’s Mugla coast, felt in Datca and Bodrum

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Mugla on Monday evening, with tremors felt in several parts of the region, particularly in Datca and Bodrum, according to initial data from Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Kandilli Observatory.

The earthquake was recorded in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of the Greek island of Crete, amid a recent series of tremors in the Aegean region..

AFAD reported that the quake occurred 188.60 kilometers southwest of Datca in Mugla province. It struck at a depth of 7.37 kilometers beneath the seafloor.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Local authorities are continuing to monitor the area for potential aftershocks.
