London ambulance nightmare: Turkish actress endures 2-hour wait

Legendary Turkish cinema (also formerly known as Yesilcam, which literally means Green Pine in Turkish) actress Hulya Kocyigit experienced a terrifying ordeal in London after suffering a sudden accident.

The renowned star waited two hours for an ambulance, an experience that made her appreciate Türkiye’s health care system even more.

Shocking fall in London shopping mall

While shopping in a London mall, Kocyigit attempted to turn with her cart when she suddenly lost her balance. Her foot twisted unnaturally, causing her to fall backward and hit her head hard on the ground.

Momentarily stunned, the actress checked her consciousness and realized she could not get up on her own. Strangers rushed to her aid, but she had to endure a two-hour wait before an ambulance finally arrived.

‘Türkiye’s health care system is far superior’

Speaking to Turkis media, Kocyigit expressed her frustration, emphasizing how much she missed Türkiye’s efficient health care services.

“I lay there waiting for two hours before the ambulance arrived. If I had been in Türkiye, medical help would have come within five minutes. There, I had to wait a long time before receiving any treatment,” she stated.

Despite the distressing delay, bystanders stayed with her, trying to comfort her. With no family members by her side, Kocyigit described the situation as emotionally challenging.

Concerns over brain injury

After being taken to the hospital, doctors feared the veteran actress might have suffered a brain hemorrhage due to the impact on her head. However, medical scans confirmed there was no life-threatening condition.

Following her release, Kocyigit chose to rest at home for a month, keeping the entire incident a secret from her daughter, Gulsah Alkoclar, and her grandchildren to avoid worrying them.
