Sile offers stunning pipe rock formations
Pipe rocks, with an 800,000-year history and found only in three locations globally, draw attention in Istanbul’s Sile district
The pipe rocks, internationally renowned for their literary value and situated on the coast of Dogancili Neighborhood in the Sile District of Istanbul, attract the attention of both local and foreign tourists.
Pipe rocks found in only three locations worldwide – including China and the Bahamas – are fossilized sand dunes shaped over 700 years by natural processes.
Thanks to the efforts of the Sile Environmental Volunteers Association, these pipe rocks are now accessible to visitors. Travelers can enjoy the beauty of the Sile coastline while witnessing this unique geological marvel firsthand.
Beach operator Adem Yildiz said, “The pipe rocks were discovered by the Sile Environmental Volunteers Association. These unique natural formations are only found in three locations globally: China, the Bahamas, and Sile’s Dogancili Beach. They represent the natural beauty of both our country and Sile. We encourage visitors to admire them and to help us maintain the cleanliness of the environment. Many people are curious about these rocks, and we are happy to provide information and assistance to them whenever possible.”
