Israeli-origin Turkish singer’s concert canceled over Hamas post

A concert of famous Israeli-origin Turkish singer, Linet Menashi was canceled by the Ankara Governor’s Office over her social media post about Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, according to Turkish media reports.

Linet’s concert was scheduled to take place on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. (GMT+03) at Jolly Joker Ankara, a popular live music venue in the Turkish capital. However, the event was canceled following a decision by the governor’s office.

Israeli-origin Turkish singer’s share sparked backlash

Turkish media reported that the cancellation was linked to her controversial social media post, which accused Hamas of claiming the lives of Palestinians.

On Oct. 18, 2023, Linet shared a pro-Israel story on her Instagram account, accusing Hamas of “preventing Palestinians from fleeing northern Gaza.”

Linet has not issued a public statement regarding the decision.

Menashi, commonly known by her stage name Linet, is a famous singer of Israeli origin with her musical career. Linet began her music career in Türkiye, releasing her first album in 1995.

Over the years, she gained popularity for her ability to perform in Turkish, Hebrew, Arabic and English.
