Two 300-year-old clocks of Topkapi Palace are being restored at the National Palaces Kalemkar Workshop operating in Dolmabahce Palace.

The rich object collections of the Presidency of National Palaces are described as “unique” with their craftsmanship and aesthetic features and take those who see them on a journey through time. Two works of art in the clock collection are counting days to meet visitors.

The wooden cases, known as “envelopes,” of two 300-year-old British-made grand clocks are undergoing restoration at the National Palaces Kalemkar Workshop. After being integrated with mechanical components, the wooden clock envelopes, admired for their diverse forms, colors, and patterns, will be showcased at Topkapi Palace.

Two large clock envelopes, whose restoration is ongoing at the National Palaces Kalemkar Workshop, date from the 18th century. One wooden envelope bears the signature of “James Newton,” and the other of “Markwick Markham & Perigal.”
