Nvidia launches cutting-edge AI chip
Nvidia unveils its latest artificial intelligence chip, signaling advancements in AI technology
The U.S. chip manufacturer Nvidia introduced its new artificial intelligence chip, which uses its latest generation chip architecture, Blackwell.
Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, in his speech at the company’s Technology Conference, explained that the amount of data available will increase and even larger graphics processing units (GPU) will need to be created.
Huang said the company’s chip architecture, Hopper, is “fantastic” but needs larger GPUs. He explained that the new generation of chip architecture, named after mathematician David Blackwell, is not a chip but the name of a platform.
Furthermore, the company stated that the Blackwell platform allows the creation and running of real-time generative AI on large language models with trillion parameters, up to 25 times less cost and energy consumption than the previous model.
The statement noted that Amazon Web Services, Dell Technologies, Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, Oracle, Tesla, and xAI are among the companies expected to use Blackwell.
It has also been reported that the first Blackwell chip, GB200, will be released later this year.
