Karsan maintains its dominance in the European electric minibus market, securing the top position for the fourth year in a row
The Türkiye-based company Karsan has once again claimed the top spot in the European electric minibus market, as per the “2023 European Minibus and Bus Market Report.”
According to the report by Wim Chatrou-CME Solutions, Karsan secured a remarkable 24% share, maintaining its position at the forefront of the electric minibus market for four consecutive years.
Karsan’s e-Jest model retained its leading position in the European electric minibus market with a 28.5% share.
Okan Bas, the CEO of Karsan, highlighted the company’s continued leadership in Europe in 2023, stating, “With e-Jest dominating the electric minibus market and e-ATAK leading the electric minibus segment for four consecutive years, we’re not only setting benchmarks for Karsan but also for the Turkish industry.”
Bas described Karsan e-Jest as the expert in its segment.
Emphasizing the growth in the European electric minibus market, Baş noted a 38% increase compared to the previous year, underscoring the success of the e-Jest model, which made 388 deliveries by the end of 2023.
E-Jest: 1 in 4 electric minibuses sold in Europe
“One out of every four electric minibuses sold in Europe is an e-Jest. Our vehicle stands out as the strongest player in the markets of France, Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria, Spain, and Italy,” he added.
Additionally, Bas mentioned Karsan’s expansion into North America and Japan after conquering the European market, expressing confidence that the e-Jest will excel in these regions as well.
In addition to e-Jest’s success, Bas highlighted that one in every four electric midibuses sold in Europe is an e-ATAK, which also marks Karsan’s dominance in this segment.
He stated, “Karsan e-ATAK has pioneered electric conversion in the 8m segment in Europe.”
Bas further noted the popularity of e-ATAK among European citizens for safe and eco-friendly journeys, with 117 traffic registrations in the past year, making it the most preferred electric midibus in Europe. He also mentioned the autonomous version of e-ATAK, which recently became the first and only autonomous vehicle to pass through a tunnel in Europe.
