Turkish products gain global popularity, searches soar 10-fold
President of the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETID) Hakan Cevikoglu revealed that searches for terms starting with “Turkish” on global search engines have surged nearly 10-fold over the past five years.
Discussing global search trends, Cevikoglu remarked: “This data indicates a growing global interest in Turkish products.”
“When ‘Turkish’ appears in search results, there’s also a rise in click-through rates, showing that people are finding what they seek. These insights provide valuable conclusions about various countries and their markets,” he added.
Speaking at the Istanbul Global E-Export Summit, organized by the Ministry of Trade, ETID and TIM, Cevikoglu noted the event exceeded expectations, with a high demand from both domestic and international participants.
“The summit was a treasure trove, with 30 participating companies generating nearly $3.5-4 trillion of the $6 trillion in global e-commerce sales,” Cevikoglu added.
“Our main goal is to support Turkish brands in reaching international markets. The quality and variety of Turkish products are just starting to gain global recognition,” Cevikoglu said.
He added that several foreign companies have shown interest in Turkish e-commerce firms, leading to ongoing acquisitions.
“Many global firms, especially in the East, view Turkey as a gateway to the West. With e-exports now nearing 10% of Türkiye’s total exports, we must consider both traditional and e-exports as part of our strategy going forward,” he further emphasized.
