Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase withdraws bid to enter Turkish market
U.S.-based Coinbase, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, decided to withdraw its pre-application to enter the Turkish market.
The Capital Markets Board of Türkiye updated the list of companies requesting liquidation on Nov. 29. According to the update, Coinbase withdrew its pre-application, filed in August, and requested liquidation.
Similar to Coinbase, QNB’s digital asset division, QNB Digital Assets, filed for liquidation, signaling the closure of its operations along with Finceptor, Koinim, Stanfex and XYZ Teknoloji.
Additionally, according to updates on the active entities list, Yapi Kredi Bank has submitted documents to the regulator as a cryptocurrency custodian applicant.
In this regard, Yapi Kredi, Takasbank, and BtcTurk’s subsidiary, Eliptik Digital Custody Management, have applied to provide custody services.
With these recent updates, the total number of companies seeking liquidation has risen to 14, while the number of applicants stands at 77.
