Uzbekistan ceremony unveils Uzbek translation of Mehmet Akif Ersoy’s ‘Safahat,’ supported by Türkiye’s TIKA

A ceremony was held in Uzbekistan to celebrate the translation of “Safahat,” a collection of poems by Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the renowned poet who penned the Turkish National Anthem, into the Uzbek language. The translation project was supported by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

TIKA President Serkan Kayalar, Turkish Ambassador to Tashkent Olgan Bekar, TIKA Tashkent Program Coordinator Ali Riza Tezcan, President of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan Siraciddin Sayyid and many guests attended the program held at the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan in the capital Tashkent.

Kayalar expressed his excitement and happiness to attend the presentation of the book “Safahat” by the poet of Independence, Ersoy.

Kayalar emphasized that the values and sensitivity emphasized by Ersoy in all his works, especially “Safahat,” resonate deeply with the history and culture of Uzbekistan. He stated that “Safahat” would be widely appreciated by audiences in Uzbekistan and would significantly contribute to strengthening the bond between the two brotherly peoples.

He further added that Uzbek readers would greatly benefit from this book, which they have donated to numerous universities and educational institutions, especially the National Library of Uzbekistan.

Kayalar noted that Uzbekistan holds a special and significant place for them, mentioning that one of the first offices established by TIKA in the Turkic world is located there. He emphasized their commitment to expanding projects in the country, expressing their aim to increase the number of initiatives in Uzbekistan even further this year.
