Türkiye’s operation “Sibergoz-40” apprehends 181 suspects
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the successful culmination of the “Sibergoz-40” operation, resulting in the apprehension of 181 suspects across 34 provinces.
These operations, targeting various cyber offenses such as illegal betting, forming criminal organizations, money laundering, fraud, and online child pornography, were coordinated by the Directorate of Cyber Crimes of the General Directorate of Security.
Minister Yerlikaya underscored the government’s commitment to combating cybercrime, emphasizing that those engaged in illegal activities online are under close scrutiny.
He highlighted continuous efforts of cyber patrols, which operate 24/7 to ensure the safety and security of digital spaces.
The operation, conducted by Cyber Crimes Units of Provincial Police Directorates, revealed numerous instances of cyber-related offenses.
In one case, suspects unlawfully acquired approximately ₺14 million ($1.65 million) through organized theft via fraudulent phishing websites. Another group, known as “Roma Informatics,” facilitated illegal gambling and money transfers using special software and cryptocurrency services.
Various other offenses were uncovered, including illegal gambling, identity theft, online child pornography, and fraudulent forex investments.
As a result of these operations, property and bank accounts worth approximately ₺65 million ($7.65 million) and 69 cryptocurrency wallets were seized.
Minister Yerlikaya commended the diligent efforts of the police officers involved in the operation, expressing gratitude for their dedication to maintaining law and order in cyberspace.
He concluded by affirming the support and prayers of the people for the continued success of law enforcement in combating cybercrime.
