Pyongyang threatens military action against South Korea and the U.S. in response to their joint military drills that began the day before

North Korea has accused the South Korean-U.S. military exercises of being a scheme to invade their territory and has warned of taking appropriate military actions in response.

The North’s statement, issued via state media, condemned the joint drills as increasingly aggressive and threatening to their sovereignty, portraying them as preparations for an invasion.

The North Korean Defense Ministry spokesperson emphasized their vigilance against enemy actions and pledged to undertake necessary military measures to maintain security on the Korean Peninsula.

While the specific actions were not disclosed, it is anticipated that North Korea may conduct missile tests or other activities to enhance its military capabilities.

North Korea perceives the annual military exercises of its adversaries as practice runs for an invasion, contrasting with assertions from South Korean and U.S. officials that the drills are purely defensive in nature.

In preparation for potential North Korean nuclear threats, this year’s drills, as outlined by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, will include live-fire exercises, bombing runs, air assault operations and missile defense exercises.
