Night museology introduced at ruins of Hierapolis in Denizli

Night museology was introduced in Pamukkale, the “white paradise” in Denizli, one of Türkiye’s favorite tourism centers

The introductory meeting of the “Night Museology in Hierapolis Ruins” project was held in the ancient theater within the historical site of Hierapolis, situated in Pamukkale, Türkiye.

During the meeting, Sami Cebi, the general manager of SICPA Türkiye, expressed that as part of their public service initiative, they have been actively expanding business and ticket sales channels in over 70 museums and archaeological sites across Türkiye since 2018.

Professor Dr. Celal Simsek, head of the Department of Archaeology at Pamukkale University (PAU) and head of the Excavation Committee of the Ancient City of Laodicea, stated that two of the world’s 10 most beautiful formations are located in Türkiye, namely Cappadocia and Pamukkale.

Stating that there is no other place in the world where natural travertines and archaeological beauties coexist, Simsek said:

“After Ephesus, this becomes the second archaeological site to be illuminated at night. Undoubtedly, this region experiences intense heat. However, those who come to witness this beauty, particularly visitors arriving during the cooler evenings, will contribute to elevating tourism to new heights.”

Simsek added that they will start excavation and restoration work in Hierapolis with a large team spread over 12 months of the year.

After the speeches, a night tour of the ancient city was organized for the attendees.
