The incident took place at a time when a likely peace process was discussed in Turkish politics.

The Nationalist Movement Party’s (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli’s call on Oct. 22 for the terrorist group PKK and its imprisoned founder Abdullah Ocalan to lay down arms and speak at Parliament created shockwaves across the Turkish political landscape.

Police investigation continues

The incident occurred late at night at the DEM Party headquarters located in Balgat. Reports indicate that an individual attacked the building with stones for unknown reasons.

Several windows at the building’s entrance were shattered during the attack, prompting local residents to alert the police. Officers were dispatched to the scene and quickly apprehended the attacker identified as H.C.O., who was taken into custody.

As the police investigation continues, it has been revealed that H.C.O. was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack.
