President Erdogan pledges ongoing support for earthquake-affected regions, emphasizing resilience and reconstruction efforts in a recent address

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at the Earthquake Housing Lottery and Key Delivery Ceremony at the Presidential Complex via live connection, assured the nation that regardless of events in the country or globally, the government remains steadfast in its commitment to earthquake-related programs.

Addressing the citizens of Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Malatya, Adiyaman, Gaziantep, Elazig, Osmaniye, Sanliurfa, Kilis, and Adana, Erdogan expressed heartfelt gratitude for their resilience and support following the devastating earthquakes of Feb. 6. He commended the patience, fortitude, and sacrifices of those who have worked tirelessly to rebuild their communities.

Recognizing the 53,000 lives lost in the earthquakes, Erdogan offered prayers for their souls and their families, hoping they find solace in the grace of God.

The president thanked the public personnel who have remained in the affected regions, coordinating aid and reconstruction efforts. He acknowledged their role in conducting one of the world’s most successful recovery operations, which reached 2 million people with a budget of TL 115 billion ($3.56 billion).

Erdogan emphasized the government’s determination to fulfill its promises, highlighting the completion of 46,000 houses and village homes last month. Through a lottery system, another 30,723 citizens will receive keys to their new homes.

The President outlined the government’s goal to provide permanent housing for earthquake victims and stated that efforts are under way to make earthquake-prone cities and those facing similar threats resilient in the future.

Erdogan also mentioned plans to deliver 80,000 houses per month at the Disaster Center, with a target of reaching 200,000 by the end of the decade. The ultimate aim is to provide approximately 390,000 houses, including 11,500 heavy and 40,500 commercial premises, to all 442,000 rightful owners without causing any hardship.

In conclusion, Erdoğan instructed governors to pay close attention to completing environmental landscaping work thoroughly, ensuring a holistic approach to rebuilding and resilience.
