Palestinian teenager’s artwork exhibited in Türkiye’s Trabzon

The artworks of 18-year-old Palestinian artist Hussein al-Jarjarvi, who lives in Palestine, have been brought together and exhibited in Trabzon after being submitted online.

Hailing from Deir al-Balah in Gaza, al-Jarjarvi sent photos of his paintings to Kadir Bekar, the president of the Trabzon Altinoluk Association, via the internet.

Bekar then organized the exhibition with the support of the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, showcasing the young artist’s powerful expressions of war, life, and hope at the Hamamizade Ihsanbey Cultural Center.

Art amid war

At the exhibition’s opening, Bekar highlighted that al-Jarjarvi lives in the heart of a conflict zone, yet has managed to present his artwork on an international stage for the first time.

“Although this is not the first exhibition of his work, it marks his debut on the global scene. It is a source of immense pride for us. Amid the hardships and challenges they face, offering a glimmer of hope through this exhibition has brought us great joy. When you look at his paintings, you see sorrow, resistance, and struggle, but you also see hope,” said Bekar.

“During this process, we have all shed tears and felt sadness, but at the same time, we continue to carry hope forward,” he added.

The exhibition offers a touching glimpse into the emotions of a young artist caught in the turmoil of war while still striving to convey resilience and optimism.
