Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a message in commemoration of the 61st anniversary of the African Union and Africa Day on May 25th.

In a statement released by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was expressed, “We sincerely celebrate Africa Day on May 25th, which symbolizes the desire for coexistence in harmony and the integrated ideal of a unified African continent represented by the African Union’s 61st anniversary. We conduct our relations with the African continent and African countries on the basis of mutual respect and equality principles in a comprehensive, institutional, and systematic framework, as the strategic importance of the African continent, which increasingly becomes the voice of international conscience on many global issues, growing day by day. Peace, stability, and development taking root across Africa constitute the fundamental goal of our cooperation with African countries.”

Furthermore, the statement continued, “Türkiye will continue to support the continent and its countries for a louder voice rooted in the principles of justice and equality on the African continent. The Third Türkiye-Africa Ministerial Review Conference, scheduled to be held in the autumn months of 2024 within the context of the future vision of the Türkiye-Africa Strategic Partnership, which we are celebrating its 16th year, will contribute to addressing and further deepening all aspects of our cooperation with the continent. Happy Africa Day.”
