Mahmut Arslan, head of the pro-government labor union HAK-IS, criticized the growing share of capital while the share of labor diminishes.

Arslan stated that the country is facing an unprecedented crisis, with workers being the hardest hit.

Arslan noted that despite the rise in national income over the past five years, workers have become poorer, arguing it is unfair for workers alone to bear the cost of hardships and economic downturns.

He highlighted that the workers’ share of national income has dropped to 25%, while the share of capital has risen to 55%.

Arslan called for tax reforms, suggesting that taxes be capped at 10% during crisis periods, and demanded broader tax brackets and lower rates.

“Let those who earn less pay less in taxes. No one is saying we shouldn’t pay taxes, but we want taxes to be collected fairly,” he stated.
