President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause during a recent meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. According to a statement from the Presidential Communications Directorate, the leaders discussed the ongoing conflict and the steps needed to achieve a lasting ceasefire and peace in the region.

During the 2.5-hour meeting, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye will continue to advocate for Palestine’s legitimate rights and work towards halting Israel’s actions. He stressed the importance of increasing international pressure on Israel, calling on the global community to intensify its efforts in this regard.

Erdogan condemned Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza, where civilians, including infants, have been killed. He criticized certain Western nations for their silence and continued support for Israel, deeming their stance unacceptable. The Turkish President underscored the urgency of securing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

Erdogan also highlighted the need for the Islamic world and other nations to step up their efforts to address the crisis. He expressed his satisfaction with Abbas’s upcoming address to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, signaling a continued partnership between Türkiye and Palestine.
