Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban highlights his intentions to form an anti-war bloc in the upcoming European Parliament elections, saying that the EU parliament needs a peace-wanted majority

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban alleged that European Union (EU) bureaucrats are trying to start a regional war in his statement issued Monday.

Highlighting his intentions to form an anti-war bloc in the upcoming European Parliament elections, Orban said: “EU bureaucrats are eager to begin a war. We need a peace-wanted majority in the European Parliament.”

Pointing out that the policies implemented by the EU could turn the Russia-Ukraine War into a regional conflict, the Hungarian premier said: “We will fight to prevent war in Europe.”

Hungary is the only EU country that has not participated in the sanctions against Russia.

It also became the last country to approve Sweden’s NATO membership after Türkiye.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the EU restricted Hungary’s access to aid funds because of criticism of authoritarianism.
