Turkish security forces have successfully eliminated five PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Iraq, continuing their efforts to combat terrorism in the region

The Ministry of National Defense Tuesday emphasized that counter-terrorism operations will continue with determination until the last terrorist in the region is neutralized, the ministry said on social media.

“Our operations against the terrorist organization PKK continue with determination. Five PKK terrorists identified in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq were neutralized in an air operation,” the post said.

The PKK, designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S., and the E.U., has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 individuals in its nearly four-decade-long terror campaign against Türkiye.

Ankara has conducted three significant anti-terror operations in northern Syria since 2016 – Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018), and Peace Spring (2019) – aimed at preventing the establishment of a terror corridor and facilitating the peaceful resettlement of local residents.
