Infantry Specialist Sergeant Sait embraces martyrdom in the Claw-Lock Operation area because of a lightning strike, confirms the Ministry of National Defense

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced Thursday that an Infantry Specialist Sergeant was martyred because of lightning striking the position in the Claw-Lock Operation area.

“As a result of lightning striking the position in the Claw-Lock operation area, our brave comrade Infantry Specialist Sergeant Sait Toktas was martyred. In this incident, which deeply saddens and grieves us, we extend our condolences and patience to the grieving family, the Turkish Armed Forces, and the noble Turkish nation. May Allah have mercy on our esteemed martyr,” read the statement issued by the MSB.

Türkiye launched the Claw series of operations in northern Iraq in 2019. The so-called Hakurk, Metina, Zap, Gara, Avashin-Basyan, Sinat-Haftanin, Kandil, and Asos regions of Iraq had become an area used by the PKK and its supporters for recruitment, shelter, logistical support, and preparation of actions against our country.
