Main opposition’s minimum wage lights on/off protest fails in broad daylight

The lights on/lights off protest, called for by main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Ozgur Ozel and scheduled to start at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, did not achieve the desired impact because of daylight.
Addressing citizens during his party’s group meeting, Ozel had urged: “If you want an increase in the minimum wage, tonight at 9:00 p.m., turn your lights on and off! It will be visible from space.”
Following Ozel’s call, supported by numerous politicians, citizens across the country participated by turning their lights on and off at the designated time.
However, the protest did not attract the expected attention, as daylight conditions prevented the intended visual impact.
As a result of Ozel’s initiative, the lights-on/lights-off action concluded at 9:00 p.m. without achieving the desired impact.
