The tradition of exchanging greetings between political parties continued on the second day of Eid al-Adha on Monday as the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) delegation visited the main opposition party.

A delegation led by the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP Party) Vice President Deniz Yucel welcomed the delegation, led by AK Party Central Decision and Management Board Member Hasan Sert.

During the meeting between the two delegations, wishes were expressed for the strengthening of friendship, unity, and solidarity.

‘We must work together for Türkiye’s success’

Speaking at the event, AK Party Central Decision and Management Board Member Hasan Sert emphasized that Türkiye is a country that needs to strengthen and grow, stating, “Türkiye has many responsibilities. We can only overcome them through unity and solidarity. It is normal to have different opinions among ourselves. It is normal for different political parties to produce different political arguments. We should welcome this. When it comes to national issues, we should be a bit more sacrificial and work together for Türkiye’s success.”

‘The diversity of political parties is our richness’

CHP Vice President Deniz Yucel, noting that in recent times, citizens have not been able to celebrate holidays as they should, emphasized the need for collective efforts to create a system where retirees, workers, and laborers can achieve prosperity.”Political parties may have different methods of governing the country; this diversity is our richness. Good and beautiful things come from this diversity,” Yucel said.

The dialogue process is very valuable for us’

Yucel highlighted the value of the normalization and dialogue process that began after the March 31 elections for his party, stating: “We are aware of the responsibility that our people have given us in the local elections of March 31. We are always ready to work together with a common mind for the good of our country, by saying what is right and good and criticizing what is wrong.”

This dialogue and communication are very valuable. It is indispensable for democracy. Its continuity is crucial for both our people and our country, he added.

‘We must carry out necessary work for Türkiye’s success story’

Sert, following Yucel’s remarks, mentioned that Türkiye and the world are going through great turmoil because of fires, floods, disasters and wars in inter-state geographies, which disrupt economic and political balances worldwide.

“We need to be able to write Türkiye’s success story. Countries grow with the economy and are governed by politics. We are obliged to take politics and the economy to a positive point in a planned manner. We expect your success largely in local governments, he said.

“We also have to carry out these successes in the central government. The country needs to be able to carry out the necessary work together both at the central government and in local governments to take comfortable positions in the future. We have a high belief that the country will benefit from this process,” Sert added.

Sert further emphasized the need to take our positions and carry out the work that will create a positive atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Yucel added that in recent times, the Turkish Grand National Assembly has lost its past functionality, stating that there are some well-intentioned efforts, but the balance control mechanism can be improved to solve the problems.
