Qatar announces an agreement between Israel and Hamas that includes the delivery of medicine and humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza in exchange for the delivery of medicine to Israeli prisoners

Hamas and Israel have reached an agreement on the delivery of medicines and humanitarian aid, especially to the most affected and damaged areas in the territory, in exchange for the delivery of medicines needed by Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid al-Ansari said Tuesday.

He also emphasized that this agreement was achieved through the mediation of Qatar and France.

The medicines and aid will be sent to Al-Arish, Egypt, on Thursday on two Qatari Armed Forces planes to be transported to the Gaza Strip, Ansari said, adding that Qatar will continue its efforts with regional and international partners to end the war in the Gaza Strip.

On Monday, Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, announced that Israeli prisoners Yossi Sharabi and Itay Svirsky were killed in Israeli air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip.

According to the Israeli military, there are still 136 Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip.

On Nov. 24, 2023, 81 Israelis and 240 Palestinian prisoners were mutually released during the four-day “humanitarian pause” in the fighting in Gaza, which was mediated by Qatar and Egypt and then extended by three days.
