Buckingham Palace confirms that King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Monday that King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer and has commenced treatment. The revelation came during the monarch’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, where a separate health concern was identified through subsequent diagnostic tests.

Buckingham Palace stated “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” assuring that the sovereign has already initiated the necessary medical interventions.

Despite the circumstances, the palace gave the good news that King Charles III “remains wholly positive” and “looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.” The statement did not specify the type or severity of the diagnosed cancer.

Following the announcement, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed his well-wishes for the monarch’s recovery by saying “Wishing His Majesty a full and speedy recovery. I have no doubt he’ll be back to full strength in no time, and I know the whole country will be wishing him well,”.

Similarly, Keir Starmer, the leader of the opposition Labour Party, extended his best wishes on behalf of the party stating “On behalf of the Labour Party, I wish His Majesty all the very best for his recovery. We look forward to seeing him back to swift full health,”
