A 2,550-year-old Persian silver coin has been unearthed in Palestine, which may be an indication of active trade in antiquity

Archaeologists conducting excavations in the hills of Jerusalem, Palestine, unearthed a rare Persian silver coin dating back to the sixth and seventh centuries B.C.  The rare coin was found cut in half.

This finding sheds light on ancient trade practices, given that the currency, minted shortly after the invention of coins, originated from a location outside Jerusalem.

The coin bears a distinctive square stamp, a characteristic often associated with early coinage.
