Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit reaffirms unwavering support for Palestinian state, urging international recognition and proposing U.N. peacekeeping until two-state solution is achieved.

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit made important statements on the Palestinian issue on May 18. He reaffirmed the Arab League’s unwavering support for the establishment and recognition of a Palestinian state.

Gheit underscored the significance of the efforts undertaken at the U.N. regarding this matter, asserting, “The establishment of a Palestinian state is imminent; it’s only a matter of time.”

In this context, Gheit called on the international community to recognize the state of Palestine.

In his remarks, the Secretary-General of the Arab League underscored that the only viable solution to the Palestinian issue is the two-state model, proposing the deployment of a U.N. peacekeeping force in Palestine.

“The deployment of an international U.N. protection and peacekeeping force in the Palestinian territories is necessary until the two-state solution is realized,” Gheit stated.
