Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi on Sunday inaugurated the Kyzyl Kale and Hudaferin dams on the border of the two countries.
According to a statement by the Azerbaijani Presidency, Aliyev and Raisi met at the border of the two countries. In his speech there, Raisi expressed his happiness to meet with Aliyev again.
President Raisi stated that they would inaugurate two important projects that day and said, “These projects are an indication that Iran and Azerbaijan can realize such very important big projects. Some people do not welcome our coming together and our joint achievements, but these are not important to us. What is important is that together we have realized what is good for our countries, states, and peoples.”
Aliyev stressed that the meeting and ceremony that day would remain a beautiful and bright page in the history of Iran-Azerbaijan relations.
“Iran-Azerbaijan relations are an important condition for stability in our region. Of course, such a beautiful project will increase the welfare and employment of our people and therefore will be the next step towards success. I am sure that there will be many similar joint projects in the future,” Aliyev stated.
After the meeting, Aliyev and Raisi inaugurated the Red Castle and Hudaferin dams on the Aras River, which were jointly built by the two countries.
